I’m a Laravel developer who loves to tinker with new things. Most of the time that means tweaking my MacBook and Omarchy setups in my dotfiles, building custom keyboards, or automating something else around the house. When I’m not at a keyboard, I’m playing guitar or watching F1.
If you’re hiring, or you have a project idea you want to build together, send me an email. No idea is too weird.
These come out of VheissuLabs, my own company. It started as FWD Motion Studio and did a bit of everything, then became karlm.dev when I focused on development. When AI hit and being a developer wasn’t enough anymore, I started VheissuLabs to build hardware and open-source tools. It’s my answer to Aaron Francis’s “you can just do things.”
A little F1 start-light gantry on an ESP32 with five NeoPixels. Pick any past race from the OpenF1 API, squeeze it into a few minutes, and the lights play it back: the start sequence, yellows, the safety car, the VSC, red flags and the chequered flag, in the order they happened. It serves its own control page over Wi-Fi with a dozen other light modes, and a Python tool built on FastF1 does the same replay from my laptop.

A Mac git client built around a real three-way merge tool. Ours, the result and theirs sit side by side, lined up row for row, with the changed words highlighted and controls on every chunk, the way JetBrains has done it for years. Around it is the rest of a git client: staging down to single lines, history rewriting, and stacked pull requests with each layer’s CI state. The git layer is Rust driving the real git binary, with around 420 tests behind it.

A database client for the terminal that works with MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, SQLite and SQL Server. The SQL pane always shows the query behind what’s on screen, so sorting or filtering a column writes the order by or where for you. My AI agent queries through the same engine I do, read-only, and production connections are color coded so I always know where I am.
